For those among you who are still stuck somewhere in the bricklayer's creepy room - here's a detailed Walkthrough for you:
Hint: you can have a closer look on an item when you either drag the magnifier onto the item or the item onto the magnifier. That is important for some of the riddles to be solved.
- Click the upper part of the screen to watch the ceiling. There is some kind of panel next to the lamp, there's also an 'undefined spot' but it's too high for you to making out what it is. (By the way: you can watch the ceiling in each main scene)
- Click the letter, read it. The letter contains some hints: you must turn on the water and there were people in that room before. Some of them 'managed to drown themselves'.
- Zoom back, take the screwdriver.
- Click the shiny spot at the far left table leg.
- Click right hand side next to the table leg.
- Take the small silver key.
- Read the writing at the wall and remember the colour ('Are you cold' = green).
- Zoom back twice.
- Click the box on the chair. It's locked. Bottom left is a writing which says 'box', remember that for later.
- Zoom back and turn left.
- Click the hatch of the laundry chute. It's stuck shut.
- Click the laundry pile twice.
- Click the laundry first and then the bottle of ketchup until it's removed.
- Drag and drop the screwdriver on the wooden board and wait for all the screws to be removed.
- Click the wooden board.
- Take the cutter.
- Click the book and drag the small silver key onto the lock.
- Click the right side of the book to open it.
- Read the text and flip the page
- The rest of the book isn't actually made of pages, but of a firm material, such as cardboard or carton. It seems to be hollow on the inside. When you drag the cutter onto it you will get the message 'I don't know where to cut'. So there must be a clue for that.
- Remember the writing on the box ('box')? Go to the previous page in the book and search the text for the word 'box'. (You will find it on the second page near the bottom)
- Drag the cutter onto the word 'box'
- Click the cut and take the small golden key
- Zoom back until you are in the main scene again, where you should see laundry chute and laundry.
- Go to the right once
- Click the box and drag the small golden key onto the upper part of the box (where the lock is)
- Take the hammer
- Zoom back and go to the right once
- Click the pillow, click the notes
- Read the notes. Hints: remember the code on the first page, you will need it later. It seems the notes are written by someone who was in that room before. The person had pen and paper lying next to the letter. He/she drank water which came out from under the bricks under the bed. Later (s)he started to hear a cat howling, coming from behind the wall next to the bed. It's not clear what happened to that person later (though there is blood on the last page of the notes). (S)he also thought the solution must have something to do with the ceiling.
So what the notes should have brought to light is that there must be something behind the wall next to the bed.
And we also should have gathered enough information to know that we must reach the ceiling somehow, probably we have to flood the room (the letter said 'you have to make the water run' and 'people before you managed to drown themselves')
- Zoom out. You will get the message that there is no code or equation on the back of the letter you've read (the one on the table), so it must be a different one.
- Drag the hammer onto the wall above the bed.
- Wait for the wall to be smashed then click the hole
- After the weird shadow has passed and you stated that you were cold, click the skull in front of the wall
- Note a pen lying next to the skull. Remember the notes? The person who'd wrote them mentioned (s)he had paper and a pen. If the notes are the paper (s)he wrote about, could this be the pen? Anyway, you don't need the pen.
- Click right hand side next to the skull.
- You should see the wall behind the skull. Note the writing and remember its colour ('Are you thirsty' = purple).
- Zoom out twice
- Now there is another view, take the purple spray can at the left side
- Drag the magnifier onto the spray can to get a detailed view. It's called 'magic ink spray' and it reveals some kind of secret purple ink. When you click the can you learn that there's an info on the bottom about the spray working especially perfect on walls.
- Now you just need to know where exactly to use the purple spray can.
- Zoom back and click the hole in front of you to get back to the room.
- Go to the left once, you should see a water tap. It's missing the valve.
- Remember the purple writing behind the skull. It asked you wether you were thirsty and it was written in purple. When you are thirsty you want water, right? Use the purple spray can on the wall around the water tap, until you found the right spot. A purple cross will appear.
- Drag the hammer onto the purple cross.
- wait for the wall to be smashed and click the opening
- Drag the screwdriver onto the screwed box and wait for all the screws to be removed
- Take green spray can and screw nut
- Note the yellow writing in the box ('wanna sit down?')
- The spray in the green can reveals a green ink
- Remember the hint for the green spray can. It asked you whether you were cold.
- Go to the right once
- When you are cold you need some warm clothes. Use the green spray on the wall around the laundry chute, until a green arrow appears.
- Drag the hammer onto the arrow, wait for the wall to be smashed, click the opening
- Take the iron bar. Use the magnifier to get a detailed view. Click the iron bar, it says that the iron bar is heavy and would make a perfect pry or lever. Zoom back
- Remember the door of the laundry chute being stuck shut? Use the iron bar to force it open.
- Click the door to see the inside of the laundry chute.
- Click the arrow that points up. Click the bricks and learn that even the chute is bricked
- Zoom back and click the wall to the right. There is some kind of a panel, but no way to open it.
- Zoom back and click the keypad in front of you.
- Remember the code in the notes, type it in (4035). Something opened.
- Zoom back and again click the wall to the right
- Take yellow spray can, valve and life jacket
- Zoom back twice and go to the right once
- The yellow spray reveals a yellow ink. Remember the hint written in yellow ('wanna sit down')
- Use the yellow spray can on the wall around the chair. A yellow writing appears.
- Use your hammer on the writing and again wait for the wall to be smashed. Then click the opening
- There is a glass front which needs to be broken
- Use the hammer on the glass
- Take key and wrench
- Zoom back
- Go to the water tap view, which is two moves in any direction
- Drag valve and screw nut onto the tap. If you click the valve it says that something's still missing.
- Use the wrench on the valve
- Click the valve and wait (there's a cutscene)
- Explore each new screen, note a lot of bones, the notes, a jaw and the cat skull floating in the water.
- Look up to watch the ceiling - now you are able to reach it.
- Click the panel and click the 'undefined spot' you saw before and learn it's a camera.
- Click the panel and get the message that it needs to be removed.
- Use your screwdriver on the panel, wait for the screws to be removed, then click the panel again.
- Wait for the ladder to come down, then click the hole.
And...Congrats, you are out! Or...are you?

the bricklayer
So here's my first game I created with Adventure Maker.
the bricklayer.zip
size: 49MB
alternative link:
uploadmachine.com
Note: After the download has finished, you need to unzip the downloaded file. After that just click the program icon in the unzipped file and the installer should be started.
Screenshot 1 |
Basically it's a room escape game, in which someone has locked you into a mysterious room without a door and you need to find a way out - otherwise you are going to starve!
The game has a storyline and there will be a sequel (or two).
Make sure to turn up your speakers.
Warning: there is a scary and morbid atmosphere as well as some simulated cartoon blood, so if you don't like such things please consider whether you're going to play the game or not.
Also, please don't let your (young) kids play the game or at least have a look at it before.

Further instructions are to be found in the game.
Please be patient, the download might take a few minutes.
Good luck and have fun!

Welcome
Hello and welcome to my blog,
here you will mostly find free downloadable Point'n'Click Adventures / Room Escape Games, created by me - and I must admit that I have a passion for thrilling and scary stories, so that will be the basis for most of my games.
Several projects are in development, I'm going to realise them in the near future.
If you like, just stop by every once in a while to see the progress.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to play my games online, you need to download them. But that's just a few clicks more and at least you can play the game whenever you want without the need of being online.
I build my games with Adventure Maker, which is a great free program to create your own Point'n'Click Games or virtual tours.
If you want to learn more about that toolkit, just check out the Adventure Maker Website.
If you have any questions or you'd like to send feedback, feel free to leave a comment on this site or use the contact form.
Have fun!
